NZ Pubcast - Session 21 - Auckland risks a poo eruption and smacking rights in NZ

The latest rambling bunch of nonsense is available below for download, Pubcasters... in which the boys are joined by some kiwis and a guy from Oldham to talk about how Auckland are building a mountain out of shite... and we discuss the total crazyness that's erupted in NZ over the right to smack your children...

A note on this session....

This sess has probably got the worst sound we've ever had on NZ Pubcast - and you know that we've had some pretty bad sound in the past... this was due to a couple of factors... namely:

The pub was jammed man... it was a friday after work and they just kept coming in... and making loads of noise... bastards.

also...

Our pc is knackered... Shifty Rob's 'New' laptop doesn't seem to be able to record a session without adding its 'own' sound effects... mikes cut in and out, were on different volume levels and generally acted like a complate pain in the arse...

This is simply an explaination - not an apology. As you are well aware, we don't apolgise for anything. Except to our girl partners when they are angry at us... and anyone who threatens to sue us - yes, we don't have backbones... your point is???

Anyways - I promise that we won't be using Rob's laptop anymore for Pubcast recordings - it had its chance but enough is enough... We were almost going to bin this session but because we haven't posted in a while...

Intro was beastie boys and outro was provided by the very funk tastic Pitch Black

  • Hi NZ Pubcast,
Awesome cast as usual, sorry I didn't make it - I was stranded on the west coast (could have been worse).
Interesting conversation about the "anti-smacking laws", funny how some people call a smack using violence against children! Everyone agrees that we don't want scum to be able to get off beating their kids due to a law, the difference is some people, like Comrade Bradford, think that they should be able to dictate how everyone in the country should bring up their kids, even when over 80% of the country disagree. If we really had a functioning democracy, they wouldn't be able to get away with this. Labour and the Greens are again legislating for the lowest common denominator, a very popular method by the Labour government! The only thing they like more than that are ill conceived and reactionary laws, for example the change in dog laws - which haven't achieved a thing....
Can't wait to be on NZPubcast again..

  • Nice one John... Yes, there was a definate feeling of this thing being bulldozed through - I think this will punish the greens in the next election - which is bollocks really since the amendment would have got no-where had labour not supported it... Like what was said on the pubcast, there seems to be alot of folks with strong opinions on this but very few who actually know what the changes mean. Obviously this is the fault of the press more than anyone else...

I saw a debate on this on Campbell live (Kiwi current affairs show) and it seemed to me that the two sides were arguing about two different bills...

I personally think that this whole affair was alot of hot air over nothing... And a prime example of how the kiwi press will jump all over a story like this in a effort to halt their declining sales...

  • On a lighter note, give a couple of key words to three guys in a pub (Poo, Volcano, Smack) and the outcome is obvious and hilarious. You can never have enough poo in a conversation, guaranteed to get a giggle! Nice one boys.

  • I listened to it last night in a fog of 42Below. Absolutely hilarious!!!
I have no idea what anyone said during the show. I remember poo, dried poo and exploding volcanos. Oh yea that Shifty guys accent too.
I am never, ever going to drink that evil stuff again, ever!!!!!
    until next time.
